Five vessels, each carrying an auspicious form from the old tradition, each painted by one hand over stone-weathered glaze and finished in gold. Not blessed. Made by a master whose hands did not need the blessing.
Thirty of each. When a piece is gone, it is gone.
Master Xu has consecrated thousands of pieces. He did not consecrate this one.

For years, whenever the collection turned toward a vessel something held every morning, not set on a shelf — Master Xu held it to the same standard as a stone: it had to be true before it reached his hands.
He does not paint. So he found the one man who could.
Qiu Guihuan, Dehua porcelain country, kilns burning for a thousand years. Thirty years spent learning to hold a brush steady enough to lay a dragon's breath in gold, one unbroken line, no correction. Every piece hand-painted, no two alike, only thirty of each to ever exist.
