Inspired by the Ping An Kou, the ancient “peace buckle” this sculptural disc carries a flowering magnolia branch and a pair of butterflies, traditional emblems of grace, reunion and lasting togetherness.
The Symbolism
The Ping An Kou has been worn and displayed for centuries as a wish for safety and calm. Its unbroken round form speaks of completeness and reunion, the family gathered, nothing missing.
In Chinese tradition the magnolia stands for purity, nobility and a gracious household. Rising from bud to full bloom along a gilded branch, it suggests a family that flourishes across generations.
Butterflies that fly together are a classic emblem of joyful union and long life. Here they hover near the centre — love and devotion orbiting the heart of the home.
In classical cosmology the circle is heaven and the square is earth. The disc rests on its black base as the sky rests on the land, a quiet picture of balance above the family table.

In Bagua tradition the east governs family and ancestry. A living-room console or sideboard on the east wall is the classic home for a harmony piece.

Literally a “peace buckle,” it is a round disc with a central opening, long given as a wish for safety, calm and family wholeness.
Dust gently with a soft dry cloth. Keep away from direct sun and moisture, and avoid household cleaners on the enamel and gilded finishes.
The circle is carved from natural jade, translucent white with soft cloud-like veining, so no two pieces are exactly alike. The magnolia branch, butterflies and scroll feet are cast in zinc alloy with a gold-tone and enamel-style finish, and the piece rests on a black crystal-glass base. Total weight is 3.2 kg (about 7 lb).
