One creature was made to take wealth in and keep it.


In the classical tradition the 貔貅 (píxiū) hunts for wealth and holds what it finds — a mouth that takes in, and no exit to let it back out. It is the oldest emblem the tradition keeps for retention: not fortune that arrives, fortune that stays.


This one is rendered in 青花 (qīnghuā), the blue-and-white porcelain of the old kilns — cobalt laid under the glaze, horns and mane touched in gold. It is a quiet object. It asks for a shelf, a threshold, or a desk, and a stick of incense in the morning.

金角銀角

The old record gives the pixiu two forms. The single-horned 天祿 (tiān lù) — heaven's emolument — is the keeper of prosperity and standing. The twin-horned 辟邪 (bì xié) — the one that wards off harm — stands at the threshold and turns bad energy away.


A properly made pixiu carries both at once: the office that gathers, and the office that guards. That is why, of all the wealth forms, this is the one the tradition places at the door.

The mouth takes in. Here, it also breathes.


Set brow, raised jaw, the teeth just showing the guardian is made to look like it means it. In the tradition the open mouth is the aperture that draws wealth in and holds it.


On this piece that same mouth is the censer's breath. Light a stick of incense inside the hollow body and the smoke leaves through the mouth and nostrils so the object that keeps also exhales, once a day, when you meet it.


It will not make the decisions for you. It keeps the intention in view every morning, before the noise begins.

Master Xu's Blessing Ritual:

Each piece is shaped and painted by hand, then high-fired in small kiln batches. When a batch is gone, the next is not identical.

Master Xu will perform a 38 step blessing ritual on your item. The blessings will be done based on the name that you provide (You can add this information in the remarks during checkout). You will also receive a certificate of blessing together with your order (refer to the image below).
